Project description
The CONSIGNOS-AUTOMATIC SIGN LANGUAGE CONVERTER AND PLAYER project is an experimental development project within the Avanza Competitiveness R&D Sub-Programme.
The objective of the CONSIGNOS project is to contribute towards including people with a hearing disability . In order to reach the objective, it is proposed to use innovative technologies in order to automatically translate information to Spanish Sign Language (SSL). These technologies include voice recognition, translation to SSL, and sign generation using an animated agent.
This project includes the development of the first prototype for voice or text translation into SSL. With the development of this project, the aim is:
- To facilitate access for deaf people to IT, including pure content access as well as interactions with the content.
- To allow them to communicate using the animated agent with all types of users, without requiring knowledge of special skills.
- To research new possibilities that the new product may offer for providing different communication alternatives.
